It can often be overwhelming to start thinking of all of the ways in which we can change our habits in reducing the amount of waste we produce. As the other members of The Food Group and I were discussing possible changes to make to our lifestyles in order to reduce the amount of waste we produce in our households, many ideas started to arise such as canning, recycling, composting and responsible food use. At the end of a long and very productive discussion, we were feeling a little overwhelmed with how we were going to incorporate this into our lifestyle routines and how we were going to "jump" into it. We all agreed that it was important to start with small "baby" steps and work our way up to the types of changes that fit with our household so that the changes will remain permanent. We all agreed that we would start with weighing the amount of garbage we are sending to the landfills every time we change our garbage. I think this is a very appropriate "baby" step that we can all achieve. Stay tuned to find out how much garbage we produce all together and the next steps/changes we will make to reduce our garbage output.
